About this studio
Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Moon Valley is a ballroom and Latin dance studio located at 1107 E Bell Rd in Phoenix, Arizona, serving the Moon Valley, North Mountain, and greater North Phoenix area. The studio is co-owned by Manuel Frighetto and Daria Sereda, both accomplished competitive dancers with extensive international experience.
Manuel started dancing at age 8 in Italy and went on to represent Estonia for 10 years, earning titles including Italian Champion and 3-time Estonian Champion, with a 3rd place finish at the European Championships. He has been a finalist at major competitions including the UK Open, Blackpool, the International, and the World Championships. Since 2016, he has danced professionally with his wife Daria, and the couple has competed at Blackpool semifinals and been European Championship finalists twice. They have won events in Singapore, China, Korea, Italy, and the USA.
Daria began dancing at age 5 in Ukraine and became a 3-time Ukrainian Champion in the under-21 division, placing 2nd at the World Championship in Paris and winning Vice Champion at the International Championship at London's Royal Albert Hall. In 2016, she partnered with Manuel, and together they have built a strong reputation on the professional Latin circuit. Beyond competing, both Manuel and Daria teach and choreograph worldwide. They recently choreographed the Latin medley for the UvU Formation Team, which took 1st place at the 2025 Blackpool Dance Festival. They have also worked with college teams including BYU and taught at camps and studios around the world. Manuel was invited to appear on Dancing with the Stars in the U.S. but declined to focus on his competitive career; Daria turned down the same opportunity in Ukraine for similar reasons.
The studio teaches a comprehensive range of ballroom and Latin styles, including Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Salsa, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, and Country Western styles (Texas 2 Step, Arizona 2 Step, Country Waltz, Country Swing). The studio also specializes in wedding dance lessons for the bride and groom, father and bride, mother and groom, and entire bridal parties.
Instructors include Antonio, whose dance journey began in New York where he competed in freestyle dance battles. The studio emphasizes a warm, welcoming atmosphere described as a "judgment-free zone" for dancers of all ages and abilities. Teaching methods combine private lessons, group lessons, and practice parties. The studio also hosts seasonal showcases, casual Friday night socials, and provides access to Regional, Inter-Regional, and National amateur and Pro-Am dance competitions.
