About this studio

Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Paradise Valley is a franchise location of the nationally established Fred Astaire Dance Studios chain, which has made Arizona home for over 50 years. Located at 4855 E Greenway Road in Scottsdale, the studio teaches all partnership dances across American and International ballroom styles.

The studio's teaching method combines private instruction, group lessons and practice parties. The curriculum covers the full range of ballroom dances including Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Argentine Tango, Bolero, Mambo, Merengue, Salsa, East Coast Swing, Hustle, and West Coast Swing. Instruction is available for social dancers, wedding couples, competitive Pro-Am dancers, and those interested in country western or club dancing. No partner is required—the studio welcomes singles and couples alike, and your instructor becomes your partner for private lessons.

The staff includes certified dance professionals: Igor Ustymovych (Studio Director), Oleksii Ihnatov (Ballroom Professional), Denys Savytskyy (Training Director and professional dancer/competitor), Sasha Fedorova (Dance Director, professional dancer and finalist), Jillian Nelson (Ballroom Professional, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona), and Vitalii Demianenko (Ballroom Professional). Many instructors hold Fine Arts degrees and are actively competing, award-winning professional dancers from around the world. All have completed rigorous certification in the Fred Astaire Dance Curriculum, a proprietary teaching method developed by Fred Astaire himself.

Wedding dance programmes are a major offering. The studio creates customised routines ranging from a simple first dance to full wedding party choreography. Couples can include parent dances (Father/Daughter and Mother/Son) and can involve the entire wedding party in a routine. The studio recommends starting lessons at least 5–6 months before the wedding, though shorter timelines can be accommodated. First-time consultations are free, and couples are encouraged to bring favourite songs, venue photos, wedding attire pictures and video examples to inform the choreography.

The studio hosts group classes typically scheduled during afternoon and evening hours throughout the week, accommodates all skill levels, and provides a calendar of events. Students can attend practice sessions, which occur in a party-type atmosphere with dimmed lights and music, allowing students to apply material learned in lessons and meet other dancers without public pressure. The studio also participates in Fred Astaire's branded regional, inter-regional, national and international Pro-Am and professional dance competitions, offering students opportunities to compete and travel.
