About this studio
Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Old Town Scottsdale teaches ballroom, Latin, smooth, rhythm and swing dancing to students of all ages and abilities. The studio is run by co-owners Maksym Bulanyi and Kateryna Spasitel, both 10-dance world professional finalists and finalists of the International Championship and United Kingdom Championship. Roman Myrkin and Nataliia Biedniagina are also studio co-owners; Roman is an Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine and one of the most titled dancers in the world.
The teaching team includes award-winning professional dancers from around the world. Alex Zakharchenko is a Ukrainian National Championship winner and finalist of European and World Ballroom Dance Championships. Anastasiia Malovana is a World and European Champion, Blackpool, International and UK Open Champion, and US National Champion. Hanna Vasina has earned Vice Champion titles at the WDC AL World Championship and other major competitions. Danylo Afonin is a two-time European Champion and two-time Vice-Champion of Blackpool. All instructors complete rigorous certification in the Fred Astaire Curriculum.
The studio offers a full curriculum covering American, Latin, International Style and Ballroom Style dances, plus Exhibition and Theater Arts dances for both social and competitive dancers. Specific styles taught include Argentine Tango, Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Hustle, Jive, Mambo, Merengue, Paso Doble, Quickstep, Rumba, Salsa, Samba, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz and West Coast Swing.
The studio's teaching philosophy centres on making learning fun. New students are encouraged to book private lessons frequently at the start, ideally scheduled close together to minimise forgetting and accelerate progress. The studio also offers group classes and practice parties as part of its proven program. Wedding dance instruction is a major focus, with packages ranging from simple first-dance steps to fully choreographed routines for the entire wedding party. The studio hosts Guest Parties, Showcases, Spotlights, Community Outreach Events and coaching sessions, plus Regional, National and International Pro-Am and Professional Dance Competitions.
