About this studio
Gotta Dance! is a non-competitive, performance-focused studio serving Tucson dancers aged 3 to 20. The studio's mission is to inspire and empower young dancers through age-appropriate music, costuming, and choreography that honour developmental stages. Rather than competition, the studio emphasises kindness, technique, performance skills, self-discipline, and creative expression in a body-positive, welcoming environment.
Classes are structured around four age bands: Tiny Tots (ages 3–5), Intro (ages 5–9), Kids (ages 8–18), and Advanced (ages 12–19). Each level offers ballet as a foundation—the studio strongly recommends ballet for all dancers—alongside jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theater, and lyrical styles. Kids classes are leveled by skill, technique and experience; progression is director-determined rather than automatic. Advanced students pursuing dance as a profession have access to pre-pointe and pointe classes (invitation only, based on age, growth, years of ballet training, strength and technical ability), as well as repertoire and variations, kicks leaps and turns, and pilates conditioning and flexibility classes.
Each class follows a consistent format: welcome and warm-up, skills and technique work, across-the-floor and traveling steps, improvisation, choreography, and goodbye. The studio runs fall and spring sessions, with summer Saturday children's classes and intermediate/advanced ballet and pointe intensive classes. The annual May recital is a major performance opportunity, and the studio also hosts community projects and public performances throughout the year. A winter Nutcracker production is documented in videos from 2019, 2022, and 2023.
Parents report a family-like atmosphere where teachers and staff are invested in each student's growth and wellbeing. The studio is described as very clean and organised, and the owner is noted as passionate about providing the best education and encouragement. Instructors named in reviews include Anne, Cali, and Paige, all described as patient, well-trained, and dedicated to making every student feel special. The studio has earned a 4.9 Google rating across 28 reviews.
