Gradient Dance Theater and Community was founded in 2018 to provide accessible dance education and professional training in Birmingham, Alabama. The studio is built on the belief that all bodies can dance and every dancer has a unique voice to bring to the floor — whether you're a complete beginner, a returning adult, or training toward a professional career.
You can take weekly classes in ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, cross-training, Pilates, and Gyrokinesis®. Classes are taught by expert instructors at their downtown location at 518 19th St N, Room 200. Most classes run 60 minutes, though some are 30 or 90 minutes — check individual listings. The studio offers morning, lunchtime and evening class times to fit different schedules.
Gradient's pricing is straightforward: join the 'All You Can Dance' membership for $15 a month and get unlimited access to weekly classes, pop-up events, and their 'Dance Bite' micro-series. New members can try a single class for $5 before committing. Drop-in options are also available for those with busy schedules.
