International Dance Academy opened in January 2022 under the direction of Ulyana Yazvina, a highly accomplished dance educator and choreographer with over 18 years of professional experience. Yazvina founded the studio as a space to share her international experience and inspire the next generation of dancers. She currently serves as Head Coach of the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) Dance and Cheer Teams and has taught dance and choreography across the world, judging competitions throughout Europe including Sweden, Slovak Republic, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Czech Republic, and Poland.
The studio operates from two locations: 5802 Yorktown Blvd C103 (Manhattan Plaza) and 14493 SPID, Unit I (South Padre Island). Classes run throughout the week, with schedules tailored to different age groups and skill levels. The academy's curriculum spans ages 18 months through college, starting with Toddler and Me and progressing through recreational and competitive pathways.
Classes cover a comprehensive range of styles: Acro/Tumbling (with progression through Novice, Beginner, L1, L2, L3 levels, each subdivided into Spark, Crystal, and Diamond tiers), Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Pom, Jazz/Lyrical combinations, Pom/Jazz, Acro Dance, Drill Team Prep / Leaps & Turns, College Dance Team Prep (ages 14+), Performance Collective, Strength and Conditioning, Buti Yoga, and specialized programs like Tumble Tots (ages 3–5) and Acro Skills for Competitive Dancers.
The teaching team includes Elizabeth Johnson-Clarke, Lexi Miller, Rachel Perl, and Hannah Voss, each bringing expertise across multiple styles. Yazvina holds NFHS Cheer and Dance safety certification, NDCA Coaches credentials Level 1, NDCA judging credentials, ICU judging certification, and IDO judging certification. The studio emphasizes clear growth pathways supporting recreational training, competitive prep, and college readiness, alongside seasonal showcases, competitions, master classes, and intensives.
