Knox Dance Worx is a family-run and family-centric studio in Knoxville, now in its 17th season. Created by Owner/Director Shelley Martin as a lifelong dream, the studio focuses on high quality dance education and growing young people. The philosophy here is clear: dance is not a competition, it's a passion.
The studio teaches Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Leaps & Turns across multiple age groups. Classes are available for preschoolers, elementary school beginners, and middle schoolers, with beginner options at every level. The new season runs from August 10, 2026, with registration open through January 31, 2027. Auditions for competitive companies are held August 8th, 2026, with additional audition opportunities available.
The teaching faculty includes Shelley Martin (Owner/Director), Katie Shankles (Co-Director/Dance Instructor), Jenn Kyles (Company Director), David Maccree, and Dante Carrillo. The studio offers a parent portal and maintains a 4.6 Google rating across 25 reviews.
Knox Dance Worx is conveniently located 10–15 minutes from most West Knoxville schools at 11156 Outlet Drive. Studio hours are Monday through Thursday 3pm–9pm, Friday 3am–7pm, and Saturday 11am–2pm. New students can sign up for a free 45-minute trial lesson.
