About this studio
Lazarte Dance Academy is a salsa and bachata school in München, run by Carlos Lazarte, an experienced dancer and established teacher. The academy teaches Latin American dance styles with a focus on partnered dancing and community.
The main adult classes run Monday to Friday, organised by style and level. Salsa ON1 classes span Beginner, Improver, Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2, with experience requirements ranging from entry-level to 6–10 months. Bachata is taught at Beginner, Improver and Intermediate levels. On Thursdays, Mambo ON2 classes include Essentials (Improver/Intermediate), and three separate Advanced tracks focusing on Spins, Footwork and Pachanga respectively. Friday evenings offer Salsa Cubana & Rueda at Beginner/Improver and Intermediate levels. All adult classes are danced in pairs; if you come alone, the academy pairs you with a partner and rotates pairings during the class.
Children's classes run on Friday afternoons under instructor Sonja: LDA Minis (ages 4–7) teaches creative dance with Latin elements; LDA Kids (ages 8–12) covers Salsa, HipHop, Bachata and Jazz; LDA Teens (ages 13–18) follow the same styles. Kids' classes are taught in formation rather than partnered.
Courses run monthly (four weeks), with new figures introduced each month. The academy follows a progressive curriculum—students are encouraged to take each level twice before advancing. Instructors include Carlos (teaching across multiple styles), Carmen, Djellza, Nathalie, Patricia, Martina, Sonja, Abdou and Laura. The first lesson is free for adult students; children's first lesson costs €5. Monthly course fees are €75 standard or €60 for students, apprentices and pensioners; single lessons cost €20 or €15. Kids' classes cost €45–€49 per month. Payment is by cash (adults) or standing order (children). There are no classes during school holidays, and one month's notice is required to cancel.
The academy runs social dance events called Americas am Stachus on 1 August, 5 September and 3 October 2026, with details at www.tanzschuleamstachus.de. A summer break is scheduled for 24–30 August 2026. The studio is located at Kurfürstenstraße 8, Innenhof UG, 80799 München, and can be reached by phone or email.
What to expect
Your first visit
Come to a one-hour class of around a dozen dancers, with live instruction from Carlos or a senior instructor. You'll be paired with a rotating partner, shown combinations step by step, and encouraged to dance to the music. The first visit is free for adults.
