About this studio

Marikas Dans & Modestudio has been part of Stockholm's dance life for over 30 years. Recently acquired by Danshuset, the studio now operates as Marikas by Danshuset, continuing with the same warmth, pedagogy and family feel while opening new possibilities.

Classes run across all ages and levels. For the youngest (ages 2–6), Barndans offers playful, secure, developmentally grounded movement. Children and teens (7–17) can take Balett, Hiphop, Jazz and Jazzfunk, with dedicated dance lines (Danslinjer) available for those wanting to focus on technique and stage performance. Adults choose from Hiphop, Streetdance, Jazz and Feminine vibe, with specialist groups for ages 30+ and 60+, plus a health-focused concept called Meditativ dans.

Stagelinjen is a selective programme for serious dancers. Entry requires an audition held in May and December at the Döbelnsgatan studio. During the audition, candidates take a regular class assessed by a jury, then receive feedback and placement guidance. This line develops dancers with strong technical skills and stage presence.

The studio occupies three purpose-built spaces at Döbelnsgatan 56, near Odenplan, Rådmansgatan and Tekniska Högskolan stations. Studio 1 is 145 m², Studio 2 (the largest) is 180 m², and Studio 3 is 90 m². Each has a sprung dance floor, large mirrors (coverable on request), ballet barres, professional sound systems with CD players and cable connections for phones and computers. Separate changing rooms for men and women include toilets and showers. A shared common area with tables and chairs accommodates socialising, meetings and events, and can be hired separately. Coffee and soft drinks are available on-site.

The studio rents to dancers, yoga classes, theatre rehearsals, auditions, filming and photography. Special event bookings include hen parties (möhippa), stag dos (svensexa) and children's parties (barnkalas). A trial lesson (prova-på) costs 300 kr and must be booked via the website with payment by Swish or bank giro. From the third week of term, missed classes can be made up by contacting reception or by email, provided space is available and the make-up occurs in the same term.

Students receive internal discounts: 100 kr off any course when siblings enrol, and 100 kr off each course when taking more than one. A 10% discount applies at Dansbutiken (Gamla Brogatan 34, in-store only, not online). A Terminskort (term pass) lets students mix and match courses across the week; a Danskort (dance card) is custom-built with audition-based placement and includes access to train alongside Stagelinjen students. All course levels are marked N (beginner, 1–3 terms), F (continuation, 3+ terms), F2 (advanced, several years), or Anp (adapted, flexible).
