About this studio

Mrs. Jenkins Dance Academy has been teaching young dancers in the Midlands since 2007. The studio's mission is to provide comprehensive artistic education that fosters excellence in all forms of dance, helping young people develop poise, grace, and self-confidence.

MJDA offers classes across multiple age groups and ability levels. Tiny Dancers (ages 2–3) begin with movement fundamentals, while Kiddie Dancers (ages 4–6) learn the basics in a supportive environment. Level 1 Dancers (ages 6+) move into technique and friendship-building, and Levels 2–3 Dancers (ages 10+) take on more challenge and connection. Beyond recreational classes, the studio runs audition-only competitive companies: the Hip Hop Company (split by age: 12 and under, and 13 and up), Tap Company, Performance Company, and the main MJDA Dance Company—all of which are nationally award-winning.

Classes cover ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, acrobatics, and tumbling. Specific offerings include Mini Rehearsal, Junior Company Technique, Petite Company Technique, Performance Co Jazz Training, and specialized classes like Broadway Bound Babies, Tiny Tumblerz, Kiddie Tumblerz, Sonic Steps (beginner tap), Syncopated Stompers (intermediate tap), Silver Soles (advanced tap), and Dance Conditioning. The studio operates multiple studios (Studio A–E and an Annex) and holds classes Monday through Friday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM (August 1 to May 31).

All instructors have over 10 years of experience. Teachers emphasize correct technique and terminology at every level, focusing on more than just the physical. The studio fosters a can-do attitude in children, helping them develop rhythm, coordination, music appreciation, and confidence. Classes are divided by age, ability, and experience.

The studio hosts an annual spring recital—for 2026, "Always Home: An MJDA Homecoming" takes place on Saturday, May 30, at R2 Performing Arts Center (noon and 4 PM). Throughout the year, MJDA runs events including an Open House Week, Pink Out Spirit Week with a Family Skate Night ($9), and a Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat on Halloween. A Winter Showcase happens in December. Registration is handled through the Parent Portal; students can register for individual classes or multi-class packages.
