About this studio
Musicality Central is a Buffalo-based adult dance studio founded in 2016 by Susie K and Rishone Todd. Unlike youth competition studios, this space is built entirely for adults and teens 15+, with a focus on recreational training without performance pressure or recitals.
The studio's foundation is rooted in hip-hop culture and fundamentals. Classes blend choreography, groove, conditioning, and performance energy in a way designed to feel both empowering and accessible. The regular weekly offerings include Choreo 101, Choreo Vibes, Dancehall Flava, Burlesque Intentions, Burn & Groove Dance Fitness, Rest & Restore Yin Yoga, Set the Barre, and Step & Groove. Specialty sessions are offered periodically. All classes are drop-in based with no long-term contracts or commitments.
Beginners are the studio's specialty. The instructors break movement down step-by-step so you build confidence through understanding, not just memorization. Experienced dancers are equally welcome—classes challenge movers looking to deepen technique, musicality, and explore different styles. The studio is expanding to include contemporary and heels as well.
The teaching team includes co-founders Susie K and Rishone Todd, both with over two decades of experience. Susie specializes in blending hip-hop with open style, R&B, and performance-based movement. Rishone works across dancehall, hip hop, house, animation, and commercial movement—he choreographed and performed at a White House-sponsored event in 2016. Additional instructors include James Levy Jr., who has taught as an adjunct professor at University of Rochester and Alfred University and has collaborated with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra; Kellie Nowak, a barre instructor who returned to dance after finding the studio in 2017; Miranda Light, a yoga and barre instructor with a 200-hour yoga certification; Kayla McSorley, a BFA Theatre Performance graduate from Niagara University who has performed and toured internationally; and Candice Cinquino, a fitness instructor.
The studio environment prioritizes community and support. Susie specializes in hip-hop blended with R&B and performance movement; Rishone works across dancehall, hip hop, house, and animation. Studio history
Musicality Central was founded in 2016 by Susie K and Rishone Todd, who created the space they wished existed—a welcoming, adult-focused studio rooted in strong fundamentals and growth. Susie's path began with a church hip-hop team that placed her on a remedial team to work on her craft; that year of dedicated growth changed everything, eventually leading her to train at Future Dance Center and Niagara University. She later took a recreational hip-hop class at the Kiernan Center taught by Rishone Todd, who became her best friend and business partner.
