The centre describes itself as more than an arts and scenic creation centre—a place of pure inspiration.
MXM Dance Studio is a dance school committed to artistic and cultural development through education. While urban dance is the core focus, the studio offers learning opportunities across a wide range of styles, from classical to contemporary. The studio operates 14 classes across 10 styles, taught by 6 teachers. Classes are held Monday through Saturday and include K-Pop, Kids, Choreography, Breaking Club (Nivel I and II), Breaking Club Future, Hip Hop, Commercial and High Heels, Contemporary, and Afrohouse. The schedule for 2025/2026 shows specific class times: Mini Kids on Saturday mornings at 09:30–10:15, Kids and Choreography on Monday and Tuesday evenings, with evening classes running as late as 21:30.
The studio houses a 360º Dance Room and is based at the MXM Art Center headquarters in Porto's Foz do Douro area. Porto Breaking Club, the official Breaking hub of MXM – Urban Dance Association Portugal, operates from the studio. The club develops regular Breaking classes, offers competition preparation and technical training, and runs social and community projects. It provides pathways to national competitions and official rankings.
Max Oliveira, founder and director, is an iconic figure in the Breaking scene and a professional dancer who has won numerous national and international competitions. He leads Momentum Crew and has been a driving force in Portugal's urban dance scene for two decades. Oliveira plays a crucial role as a key figure on the WDSF, overseeing planning of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He has earned the Medal of Honour from Porto in recognition of his contributions to social projects including the 'Desporto no Bairro' initiatives. His expertise spans corporate, tourist, and hotel experience production globally.
The centre hosts events and performances, including the show Cabaret – New Xperience, described as a unique visual and sensory journey combining dance, music, and theatricality with performances celebrating femininity and the precision of movement. MXM Food & Drinks offers catering with a buffet and alternative snacks, with views overlooking the Douro river from the terrace.
