About this studio
Pacific School opened in 2011, founded by Alphet Bopaka. Based at 38 Rue Mazenod in Marseille's Joliette neighbourhood, the studio now has around 500 students across a broad range of dance styles.
The school teaches contemporary dance, hip-hop, dancehall, samba, and a strong focus on Afro-influenced styles: Afro heels, Afro fusion, Afro pulse. You'll also find street jazz, reggaeton, K-Pop, Lady Style, street heels, high heels, twerk, and commercial pop. Classes run Monday through Friday, with sessions starting at 3pm and running into the late evening (as late as 10:15pm). Most classes are one hour long.
Classes are divided by age and level. Children from 6 years old can join Afro fusion, hip-hop commercial, or K-Pop classes on Wednesday afternoons. Teens have their own K-Pop session. Adult classes (18+) include street heels, Lady Style, Afro heels, contemporary urbain, and high heels—many of these are marked as beginner-friendly. Instructors include Alphet Bopaka (founder), Indigo (Afro fusion, dancehall, reggaeton), Lauryn (street heels, hip-hop new style, Lady Style), Maelie (street jazz, K-Pop ados, hip-hop commercial), Yuyaa (Afro pulse), Sara (Afro heels), Capucine (commercial pop), Alexandre (contemporain urbain), Jenny (samba), Yulia (twerk), Kim (dancehall gyal), and Suleiman (high heels).
