About this studio
Performing Dance Center opened its doors in 2009 in Salt Lake City. With steady growth, the studio outgrew its original location and in 2017 moved into a fully renovated building at 3310 S 2700 E in Millcreek. The facility spans three floors with six dance studios and a break room, designed to provide students with a welcoming learning environment.
PDC's teaching philosophy centres on providing a nurturing, structured space where students feel encouraged to grow. The studio aims to have each student leave class with a greater appreciation for the arts and a better sense of self. Classes are designed to support all ages and levels of dance instruction, from Tiny Dancers (creative dance for 2.5–3.5 year olds) through adult learners. Ballet teachers are certified in the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum, and acro teachers are certified in Acrobatic Arts.
The class range is extensive. Young children can take Tiny Dancers, Preschool ballet/tap combo, Kinder ballet/tap combo, or Combo ballet/jazz. From age 3 onwards, Acro is available. Ballet begins at age 7, with Pre-Pointe (age 10+) and Pointe (age 11+) for dancers ready for advanced work. Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap are all available, with Tap offered for Young Dancers and at levels 6–10. Newer offerings include Ballroom (levels 6–10, described as a style known for elegance, precision, and musicality with dances like Waltz, Tango, Cha-Cha, and Rumba) and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT, an innovative body conditioning programme prioritising muscle memory development). Leaps & Turns is offered as a technical skills class.
For students seeking more performance opportunities, PDC offers a Company programme for dancers 6+ and a Ballet Ensemble for dancers 11+. Hip Hop Crew is an optional performance add-on for Company or Ballet Ensemble dancers. Beginners of all ages and dancers 8 and under of any experience level do not need placement; older students with experience planning to take classes by placement must sign up for an assessment. The summer schedule is available, with registration details posted on the website.
The studio also offers studio rentals across its six spaces, ranging from Studio 1 (2000 square feet, black Marley floor, portable barres, basement, $40/hour) to Studio 6 (1300 square feet, gray Marley floor, wall and portable barres, second floor, $32/hour). Rental applications are reviewed within a week, and approved renters can book online.
