About this studio
Providence Ballet Inc. was founded in June 1995 by Eva Marie Pacheco, the owner and artistic director. The school operates two locations: the main studio at 194 Oxford Street in Providence, and a satellite school that opened in summer 1998 and moved to its current home at 63 Cedar Ave, #10 in East Greenwich in June 2022.
The school teaches Creative Movement for young beginning dancers starting at age three, introducing musical awareness, improving coordination and movement exploration. Ballet classes develop rigorous technique with proper fundamentals at each level, focusing on alignment, strength, and discipline. For students eight years and up, the school also offers Modern, Contemporary and Jazz dance classes. All staff are qualified professionals, many of whom are still performing artists, with years of experience working with both children and adults.
Students come from all over the state as well as from the neighbourhood in South Providence. The school has a commitment to accessibility: approximately five percent of dance classes each year are free to any student who demonstrates financial need. The Providence studio has become a vibrant artistic hub in an otherwise struggling part of the city.
Providence Ballet Theatre, a not-for-profit professional company, made its debut in 2008 as the third branch of the organisation. The school has become a pipeline sending students to audition, rehearse and perform with Providence Youth Ballet and Providence Ballet Theatre in a professional setting. Company productions include an original production of "Twas the Night Before Christmas", an annual Spring Concert featuring original Ballet and Contemporary works, original productions of Hansel and Gretel and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with an original score by Tony Lustig, and The Magic Box, an original work created in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design.
The school offers regular year-round classes in sessions, running September 8, 2026 through June 12, 2027 with 5 sessions scheduled. Summer options include a Summer Dance Camp for ages 4–8, a Young Dancers Summer Workshop for ages 9–13, and a Summer Dance Intensive. There is a Year-End Performance. The school also rents the East Greenwich studio.
