Sac Dance Lab, established in 2017 by founder Isela Ortiz, is Sacramento's home for commercial dance training. The studio specialises in industry styles including hip hop, heels, jazz, contemporary and jazz funk, serving aspiring and professional dancers alongside non-professional enthusiasts.
The studio runs year-round adult and teen classes at $17 per drop-in, scheduled Monday to Friday from 5pm–9pm and Saturdays from 9am–12pm. Youth classes follow the same pricing and schedule. Kids programmes include Level Up Kids, a 10-week performance training session with themed sessions: BLOOM (spring, January 19–March 18), TROPIX (summer, April 20–June 27), and HAUNTED (fall, August 17–October 24). The studio also offers 2-hour party packages for children.
Performance opportunities are central to Sac Dance Lab's offering. The studio runs several performance teams and companies including Sac Dance Co, Burlesque Jazz Company, Unity Dancers, Faction, Sac Dance Academy and Starbursts. Seasonal productions and showcases—including the Haunted Showcase—are presented throughout the year, giving dancers of all levels a chance to perform.
The studio prioritises accessibility and welcomes dancers of all abilities. Instructors are community-focused industry professionals who create an encouraging, non-judgmental environment. The culture emphasises diversity as a strength, with the goal that recreational, aspiring and current professional dancers feel comfortable and supported. The space is available for studio bookings and rentals. The studio also sells gift cards and operates a Sunday Lab offering.
