About this studio
Salsa Austin is run by Alvaro Gomez, an award-winning Salsa dancer and teacher from Cali, Colombia, with over 25 years of experience teaching Latin dance. Gomez is a former Salsa World champion and certified dance instructor who has performed at the White House and represented Colombia directing Cumbia dancing groups across multiple US cities. He holds training in Folkloric Dance and Free Style Dance from institutions in Colombia, and has studied Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires.
The studio teaches Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Cha Cha and Argentine Tango. Private studio classes are available at 11903-B Doubloon Cove, Austin, TX, with flexible scheduling across weekdays and weekends during mornings, afternoons, and evenings. You can call or text to check availability and book.
Beyond regular classes, Salsa Austin offers private workshops and can provide dance instruction and performances for private parties, conventions, meetings, and seminars. Alvaro Gomez, the head instructor, is a former Salsa World champion from Cali, Colombia with over 25 years teaching experience. He holds certifications in Salsa-Samba, Folkloric Dance, Free Style Dance, and Latin Dance, and has performed at the White House and for the Organization of American States.

Studio history
Alvaro Gomez earned his dance education in Cali, Colombia, completing courses in Folkloric Dance at Escuela de Bellas Artes and in Latin Dance at multiple institutions. He studied Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires and has won the Austin Community Education 'Outstanding Instructor of the Year' award (April 1992).
