About this studio

San Tropez Dance School has been teaching Latin dance in Montreal for three decades. Founded by Sonia and Moris, who earned international praise as a dynamic dance duo, the studio has grown from a small operation into a multi-location business with classes in Montreal and Laval. The studio has been awarded 'Best Studio' for three consecutive years by Canadian dance organisations.

Classes cover salsa, bachata, heels, body isolations, ladies and men's styling, reggaeton, burlesque, and tango. All styles are taught at multiple levels from beginner to advanced, and rotations ensure you don't need a partner to attend. Group classes run every day of the week, with popular evening slots filling quickly. Each class is approximately 60 minutes, including warm-up, step-by-step instruction and practice time. The studio uses a seven-level curriculum for salsa and bachata to move students from basic timing through to complex techniques without overwhelming them.

Sonia Kyriacou provides unified artistic direction that emphasises clear, beginner-friendly progress. Reviews mention instructors Emmanuel, Nicolas, Sonia and Allison O. The studio offers a welcoming lounge and bar area for relaxing before or after class. An on-site boutique stocks trusted Latin dance shoes, heels, practice sneakers and apparel that you can try and fit before class.

Beyond group classes, the studio provides private one-to-one lessons, wedding dance choreography, special events and parties (birthdays, team-building, girls' nights), student performance teams, auditions for showcases, and studio rental. The studio also runs a Teacher Certification Course and offers Spanish language classes with an introduction to conversation program. Student performance opportunities include the Montreal Bachata Festival and regular student team auditions.
