About this studio

Tanzwerk 3011 opened in September 2009, founded by the Bern show dance company Rhythm Nation. The studio specializes in diverse styles of urban dance: hip hop, street, fusion, contemporary, jazz, and heels. The company behind it, Rhythm Nation, was founded in 2004 and has performed on many stages and launched various projects. In 2006, Rhythm Nation won the Bern Burger Jugendpreis for their integration work, which they demonstrated through the first dance studio they opened in Bümpliz, Bern.

Rhythm Nation's name reflects its multicultural roots — members come from different nations and backgrounds, but found common ground in dance. The collective wanted to create something meaningful, and from that history grew the first studio in Bümpliz. Their philosophy then and now is to offer young people a worthwhile way to spend their time and a positive environment where energy can be channelled into creativity and skill can be shown.

The studio's current teaching staff includes Adina Keller (kids 8–12), Erika (kids 8–12), Flaminia Trinca (commercial, intermediate–advanced), Sabeejan Saji (Afrofusion, starting October at Tanzwerk City), Nicole Bieri (kids from age 9), Ersilia (commercial-fusion, beginner–intermediate), Laurinda (heels), and Charlotte Baret from Paris (beginner heels, Fridays 18–19:30, professionally trained dancer and choreographer who studied at BDC in New York and Paris). Theo Baeriswyl, a Swiss dancer, choreographer and teacher with international training across Switzerland, Paris, Dublin, Barcelona, Poland, New Mexico, Texas, and Los Angeles, also teaches at the studio. His work spans European tours, music videos, productions and major international stages, informed by nightlife and music culture.

Classes run on weekdays and Saturdays, with kids' classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and adult-focused classes throughout the week. The studio also hosts events including Shownight performances and Summerbash gatherings. Studios are available to rent during the day for private projects.
