About this studio
The Dance House is a non-profit Community Interest Company based in Leith, Edinburgh, inside Ocean Terminal centre (between Starbucks and HMV). The studio was formed in 2017 as House of Jack, becoming a CIC in 2019 and opening its own purpose-built studio in February 2020. It rebranded to The Dance House CIC in 2024 and relocated to its current Ocean Terminal location that same year. The core mission is making dance and its physical, social and mental health benefits accessible to all ages and abilities.
Classes span street, funk, club and performance dance styles including Hip Hop, House, Breaking, Musical Theatre, Commercial, Heels, Popping, Locking, Waacking and K-Pop. Kids classes run from Preschool through to Professional level. The studio also offers weekly kids classes in Fountainbridge at Boroughmuir High School dance studio (Dance House West location), and an Over 50s class. Adults classes range from beginners to advanced, with participants from teenagers to those in their 60s and beyond. All adult classes include Day/Block membership to the studio.
The Dance House runs multiple youth dance companies including Groundbreakers and Out of The Box. Young dancers progress from classes to performing members and have opportunities to participate in workshops with visiting dancers, free weekly open training space, and the annual summer show held at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens. The studio hosts events such as the Rock What You Got battle and has performed at prominent venues including Breakin' Convention, Breakin' Rules, Leith Festival, the Meadows Festival, and theatre performances at the Traverse Theatre and Festival Theatre.
Adult dancers perform at venues including Three Sisters Bar and Edinburgh Street Food, and at events such as The List's Hot 100 Party, National Museum Lates, Cultural Connections, Hidden Door Festival and Fringe by the Sea. The studio is also available for hire as a fully equipped rehearsal space, and can be booked for kids parties, hen parties and other events, featuring a large studio space, foyer, changing rooms, sound system and disco lights.
Managing Director Becky Enoch co-founded and owns the studio. The teaching team includes Ursula Manandhar (beginners Hip Hop, advanced Choreo, AfroFusion), Chloe Kay (toddler, preschool and P1-3 dance, adults Musical Theatre and Jazz), Ilja Dubrovins (adults and kids Breaking), Marco Barot (House, beginners Hip Hop), Alex Pavone (Over 50s Fiesta Groove), Stefani Chertsova (K-Pop), Olivia Steidl (Commercial, kids Hip Hop), Oscar Ho (Locking and Popping), Iva Stratieva (kids classes, adults Commercial), Rita Hu (Waacking and Heels), Frances Maxwell (Heels and Commercial), Giulia Chiriac (Heels), and Wayne Chang (Commercial, Waacking, youth dance companies), plus studio assistants Krystal Karakosta and Alekse Vorosilova.

Your first visit
You'll find a purpose-built studio inside Ocean Terminal on the middle level between Starbucks and HMV. Classes are taught by experienced street and performance dance instructors across a range of styles and levels. The studio offers a friendly, unintimidating environment welcoming all ages and abilities, from preschoolers to adults in their 60s and beyond.

Studio history
The Dance House was formed in 2017 as House of Jack to create an accessible dance institution in Edinburgh focused on street dance styles. The organisation became a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2019 and opened its own purpose-built studio inside Ocean Terminal in February 2020. In 2024, it rebranded to The Dance House CIC and relocated to its current location between Starbucks and HMV within Ocean Terminal.
