The Dance Place (Forum)

The Dance Place is located at Forum Office Tower on Orchard Road, offering dance classes for children and adults across a wide range of styles. Founded in 2019 by Emma Hayes-Hudson, Emmanuelle Grizot and Sun Yining, the studio teaches Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, K-Pop, Musical Theatre Jazz, Performance Skills, Street and Tap. They also run adult dance fitness classes including Ballet Barre Stretch & Tone, Flexibility & Movement and Heels Technique.

The three spacious studios are fully equipped with professional-grade sprung floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, sound systems, and barres. Air conditioning maintains comfort during intensive sessions. The studio is centrally located and easily accessible by public transportation, with connections to a shopping mall.

Classes are structured by age and ability. Ballet is offered from age 3 (Introduction level) through to adults, with levels including Pre-Primary, Primary, Grade 1-3, Elementary, Beginner and Intermediate. Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, K-Pop, Street Dance and Tap each have multiple age-appropriate levels. Younger children (2.5–3 years) can join Toddler Movement & Rhythm, while there's a Musical Theatre class for teens. An Elite Performance Group operates by invitation only for students aged 8+, with higher attendance and commitment expectations. For those wanting one-to-one attention, private lessons, coaching and exam preparations are available.

All students receive a complimentary trial class before placement to ensure they join the correct level. The studio emphasizes that dance is made accessible to everyone, adapting training methods to each student's development needs. Performance is central to the philosophy: all students can participate in the Annual Dance Recital, while Elite Performance Group members get opportunities to perform at public events and shows throughout the year.

The studio regularly hosts workshops and masterclasses with visiting teachers. Past sessions have featured co-founder Emmanuelle (a Danseuse Étoile from the National Opera of Bordeaux) leading Ballet masterclasses, and guest instructors such as Blake McGrath offering choreography intensives. Summer camps cover themes from Disney and Lion King to K-Pop and Taylor Swift, with pricing typically $380–$600 for multi-day programs. The studio also rents its three studios hourly to dance professionals, choreographers, fitness trainers and content creators.

You'll begin with a free trial class matched to your age and experience level. Classes are structured with warm-ups, technique work and choreography. Studios feature full-length mirrors, professional sound systems and sprung flooring. The environment is described as warm and positive, with instructors trained and experienced in teaching both technique and creative expression.

The team includes Emma Hayes-Hudson (trained in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Street Dance and Choreography; extensive professional performance and event management experience), Emmanuelle Grizot (studied at the International Center of Dance in Cannes and Academie Princesse Grace in Monaco; former Danseuse Étoile at the National Opera of Bordeaux), and other named instructors including Fabian Mack, Anastasia Ivanova, Aria Zain, Clare Cho, Emi Azuma, Estel Chong, Joyce Seah, Krystal Tan, Licia Chua, Md Al-Hafiz Hosni, Michelle Cao, Regina Joyce Toyad, Seow Ding Cheng, Sharul Mohammed, Tiara Soni and Melati Mohamed. Instructors have trained and performed professionally worldwide.
