About this studio
The Dance Workshop is located at 132 Alcester Road in Moseley, Birmingham. They offer classes across a wide range of styles for both children and adults, from classical ballet and tap through to contemporary dance, ballroom and Latin, Cuban salsa, bachata, flamenco, belly dance and Egyptian baladi. They also run pilates and yoga classes.
Children's classes run on Saturdays. Young dancers aged 4–6 can join an introductory dance class mixing ballet, tap and creative movement, designed to teach dance etiquette alongside fundamentals. Graded ballet and tap classes run throughout the day from preparatory to advanced level. A junior contemporary class for ages 8–12 meets at noon on Saturdays. Older students can take the contemporary senior class, tailored for ages 14 and above, with particular support for those preparing for GCSE, A level dance or foundation courses. All children's classes operate on an application basis, with spaces limited.
For adults, the studio runs beginner courses in June and July 2026, including intro to ballet (July 15–August 5), intro to reformer (July 7–28), and beginners Latin and ballroom (4 weeks). A beginners Cuban salsa class runs on Thursday evenings (6–7 pm), with no partner needed. Bodyworks offers reformer machine classes in small group settings to build core strength and flexibility.
Ballroom and Latin intensives are held on Sundays, with instruction from Richard Rose, a Fellow and Examiner with NATD and International Championships Adjudicator. Children's exams are taken through the International Dance Teachers Association. The studio welcomes new dancers and emphasises a supportive atmosphere for those with no prior experience.
