About this studio

Academy of Dance Hong Kong has been teaching dance for over 16 years from its base in Shek Mun, Sha Tin. The studio runs inclusive recreational and competitive classes across Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Acro, and Contemporary Dance, with programmes designed for children from 18 months through to 18 years, plus adult classes at all levels.

The studio has built particular strength in Jazz training and competition. Over the past five years, Academy of Dance has consistently taken home gold medals at multiple local, regional and international dance competitions in solo, duo, trio and troupes categories. This success is built on exam-based training programmes that incorporate lyrical, jazz, leaps, floorwork, turns, musical theatre, and performance skills. The studio is also an Acrobatic Arts certified studio with registered teachers, and regularly invites guest tutors like Maddy Barnett, Becky Mcewan, and Jess Graham to host workshops and classes.

The Shek Mun location features two custom-designed, fully equipped dance studios available for hire. Both studios have sprung professional dance flooring for impact protection during high-intensity activities, natural lighting, and modern interior design. Facilities include two changing rooms and a reception area.

Programmes are structured by age and development level. Tiger Tots classes for babies 12 months to 3 years include 30 minutes of dance plus 15 minutes of supervised tumble time. Sparkles Jazz/Ballet (2.5–4 years) introduces technique and rhythm through props and music. Preschool classes (3.5–5 years) offer foundational technique in Jazz, Acro, Tap and Ballet across 30-minute sessions. From there, students progress through recreational and examination-based tracks using syllabus systems including APDA (Asia Pacific Dance Association) for Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre; La Beauté Ballet for classical training; Lucidity Contemporary for examination-based contemporary study; Urban Ignition for Hip Hop; and Acrobatic Arts for acro training. Older students and adults can also take International Dance Technique (IDT) extension classes to strengthen turns, leaps and flexibility.

The studio runs an active summer programme each July and August, including camps for ages 3–6.5 and 7–10, pop-up workshops for ages 11+, and three-hour intensives. Summer camps culminate in mini performances and certificate presentations. Intensives cost $625 each, with a discount available: buy three intensives and get one free if enrolled and paid before 15 June.
