About this studio
Anita's Dance Studio was founded by Anita C. Insley in 1948 and is now in its 78th year of operation. The studio is currently owned and managed by Debbie Insley Pacheco, who took over in 1979. Located at 8908 Harford Road in Parkville, Maryland, the studio has grown significantly over the decades and remains a fixture in the local dance community.
The studio welcomes students of all ages from 3 and up, with classes structured across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, plus dedicated adult classes. Classes run Monday through Saturday with times spanning morning to evening, making it accessible for different schedules. The most popular offering is the combo dance class, a 50-minute session that combines ballet, jazz, and tap in a single class. Intermediate and advanced dancers learn additional variations in lyrical, contemporary, and hip-hop within these combo classes.
Acro and tumbling have become increasingly central to the studio's programme. Recognising student demand, the studio now offers acro classes in both 30-minute and 50-minute formats throughout the week, allowing dancers to add acro training alongside their other classes. Beyond group classes, the studio provides private lessons and speciality event dance instruction, including wedding dance lessons and quinceañera choreography.
The studio is deeply involved in the wider community and hosts annual recitals that showcase student achievements. Recent recital themes have included 'Welcome to New York' (2026), 'Anita's Fairytopia' (2025), 'To Infinity and Beyond' (2024), and 'Anita's Wonderful World of Oz' (2023), which marked the studio's 75th anniversary. The studio welcomes inquiries about performances and community events.
Registration for the 2026 summer session is open, with no registration fee and flexible payment options available before or at the first lesson. The full 2026-2027 dance year runs from September 2026 to June 2027. Prospective students can register by calling the studio or messaging via Facebook or Instagram.
