About this studio

Baltimore Dance Center was founded by Shannon Salemi and has over 20 years of experience providing dance training. The studio teaches hip hop, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap, breakdancing, and pointe.

The core class offerings cover a range of styles and levels. Ballet classes focus on classical ballet vocabulary, technique, and proper body alignment. Jazz classes are high-energy sessions set to the latest dance music, emphasising turns, leaps, kicks and style. Tap classes teach tap terminology, rhythm patterns and ankle strength. Hip hop classes feature MTV commercial style dance to rap and hip hop music. The studio also offers Intro to Dance, a one-hour class for younger dancers combining tap and ballet, and a Boyz Crew class designed for boys ages 10–18 that incorporates hip hop and tap technique with performance opportunities.
