About this studio
Char-Mar School of Dance has been a fixture in Palm Beach Gardens since 1973, founded by Mary Jane Grant and Charles Grant. The studio provides classes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, acro-dance, and hip hop for dancers of all ages. In addition to studio classes at 4115 Burns Rd, Char-Mar operates a mobile-teaching programme, visiting pre-schools and elementary schools across North Palm Beach County including Beacon Cove Elementary, Faith Lutheran Preschool, Guidepost Montessori, Jupiter Farms Elementary, Lighthouse Elementary, Marsh Pointe Elementary, Oceanside Academy, Peter Pan Preschool, and Storybrooke Academy. At these school locations, they teach tap, jazz, hip-hop, and basic dance technique.
The studio is now owned and directed by Stephanie Ford, who began dancing at Char-Mar when she was two and a half years old and has been teaching there since she was 22. Stephanie took over the studio in 2014 and has continued the family-friendly, inclusive environment established by the founders. The staff emphasises creating a safe, encouraging space where students can explore their passion for dance while developing confidence and technique.
The teaching team includes Tracy Bailey (pre-dance, ballet, tap, jazz, performance; 25+ years experience in South Florida, certified by Dance Educators of America, Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique), Alexa Grammerstorf (jazz, contemporary, performance; FAU graduate in Elementary Education with dance minor, former member of Footwerx tap company), Kayla Grammerstorf (performance, jazz, contemporary; Muhlenberg College graduate in Dance Performance), Mycaela McCorry (jazz, contemporary; FAU dance minor, Dreyfoos School of the Arts alumna), Evan James (hip hop; trained with South Florida Dance Company and Sean's Dance Factory), Evelyn Toledo (ballet, pointe; trained at Bak MSOA and The Art of Classical Ballet, danced with Florida Classical Ballet), Tiffany Hernandez (hip hop; performer in Just Dance commercials and music videos), and Fabiana Reyes (studio manager and hip hop teacher at local elementary schools).
Registration for the 2026-2027 season is open. The studio maintains an active social media presence on Instagram (@charmarschoolofdance). Parents can access a dedicated parent portal and supply lists through the website.

Studio owner and creative director Stephanie Ford has been dancing and teaching at Char-Mar since age 2.5 and took over the studio in 2014.

Char-Mar School of Dance opened in 1973 under founders Mary Jane Grant and Charles Grant. The studio was taken over in 2014 by Stephanie Ford, who had been dancing at Char-Mar since she was two and a half years old and teaching there since age 22. Stephanie has continued the founders' commitment to a family-friendly, safe environment while modernising teaching methods and studio operations.
