About this studio

Dance Unlimited is a purpose-built dance studio in Millhouses, Sheffield, opened in September 2021 at Archer Road Retail & Leisure Park. The facility houses four sprung-floor dance studios with full-length mirrors, ballet barres, and air conditioning. Parents can watch through viewing windows into the studios, or relax in waiting areas with a play corner for younger siblings. An on-site dance shop and refreshments are available, with ample free car parking outside.

The studio runs over 150 classes every week across multiple age groups and styles. Programmes include Toddlers & Pre Schoolers classes, Unlimited Stars (ages 4–7), Unlimited Core (ages 7–18), and UnlimitedPro Membership for dancers seeking comprehensive training. Adult classes span Ballet (Beginners, Improvers & Advanced), Commercial, DanceMix, Contemporary, Heels, and other styles. All students can take optional IDTA exams and participate in bi-annual shows at Sheffield City Hall. Private lessons are available for faster progression, exam preparation, or audition work, tailored to each dancer's learning style and taught by professional faculty.

Founder Becky Mercer trained professionally at The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama, completing a 3-year Musical Theatre diploma with Distinction and gaining IDTA teaching qualifications with Honours. She worked as a professional dancer for 2 years and spent over 7 years teaching before launching Dance Unlimited in February 2013. The team includes Miss Nikki (Assistant Manager, foundation degree in Dance Performance and degree in Performing Arts Industries), Miss Leah (theatre and TV performer with credits including Sheffield Lyceum pantos and UK tours), and Miss Livvy (currently training to become a professional dancer).

The studio hosts themed birthday parties with customizable dance routines and props. Classes emphasize building confidence, self-esteem, and friendships. Music is family-appropriate, costumes are modest, and choreography is developmentally suitable. The studio operates on principles of personal relationships, professional instruction, and inclusive opportunities for all levels.

What to expect

Your first visit

You'll be welcomed by name and shown into one of four bright studios with sprung flooring and mirrors. Classes are energetic and social, mixing technique with fun. Parents can watch through viewing windows or relax in the waiting area with refreshments. A free 7-day class pass lets you try multiple styles before committing.

Who teaches here

Founder Becky Mercer trained professionally at The Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (3-year Musical Theatre diploma with Distinction) and holds IDTA teaching qualifications with Honours. She worked as a professional dancer for 2 years and has over 7 years' teaching experience. Miss Nikki holds a foundation degree in Dance Performance and a degree in Performing Arts Industries, and is studying for IDTA associate qualifications. Miss Leah has theatre and TV credits including Sheffield Lyceum pantos, UK tours of Annie, Half a Sixpence, Dr Dolittle, Jekyll and Hyde, and The King and I. Miss Livvy is currently training to become a professional dancer.
