About this studio
F.A.M.E.D. Studios offers comprehensive training in dance, acting, modeling, etiquette, and vocal lessons across two locations: the main studio at 2610 W Central Ave in Toledo and a second location in Columbus. Classes range from ages 2.5 years old to adults, with the studio describing itself as semi-professional for students pursuing entertainment careers or training for enjoyment.
The studio teaches jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, praise dance, lyrical, and cheer. Beginner classes are structured by age and style: Mommy & Me/Little Divas & Divos (ages 2.5 to 5) introduces rhythm and motor skills with parental support; Ballet/Jazz/Tap combo classes (ages 5 to 7) cover elementary positions and expanded basic steps; Hip Hop is offered at all levels across multiple age brackets from 2 to 5 years old through adults. Tap is taught from the Al Gilbert system syllabus and tested throughout the dance season. Jazz emphasizes syncopated rhythm and improvisation with roots in African American vernacular dance. Contemporary is offered for intermediate to advanced students and draws from modern and post-modern dance methods. Lyrical combines classical ballet technique with the freedom of jazz and contemporary. All regular classes are 1 hour long; lessons such as acting and voice are 30 minutes; competitive classes run 1.5 to 3 hours with scheduled extra rehearsals.
The studio's Artistic Director is Shawanda Johnson. Staff are described as professionally trained, educated and credentialed instructors with many years of experience. Instructors have taught for or with artists including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Tinashe, and Chris Brown, available through professional dancers at dance conventions.
F.A.M.E.D. runs an after-school program, summer classes (starting June 8th, 2026, Monday–Thursday, 9 AM–1 PM and 4 PM–8 PM), and a Dance Competition Company. Students can audition at the beginning of each season for competitive dance opportunities, with chances to perform at community functions, out-of-town competitions, and charity events. The studio holds spring and end-of-season recitals. There are also exclusive acting classes for all ages taught by industry professionals with real TV and film experience, covering audition prep and on-camera confidence. Fitness classes with Coach Nette run every Sunday at 4 PM at the Toledo location.
Classes follow a progressive curriculum with small class sizes to ensure individual attention. The studio asks parents to allow 4–6 weeks for assessment before placement in a more suitable class level. All classes begin with stretch and warm-up exercises to prepare for dance and build flexibility, agility, strength, and balance.
