About this studio

Foundations Dance Collective was founded in 2021 in Graz by Sarah Krainberger and Genie Patrathiranond, both professional dancers seeking more studio time, connection, and dance. The studio brings together dancers in Europe with dance educators from around the world, offering education, networking, and opportunities to amateurs, pre-professionals, and professionals alike.

Weekly classes run year-round for children, teenagers, and adults across multiple styles. Classes are divided by age and experience level, so beginners and advanced dancers both get the most from their time in the studio. You can take classes in Kindertanz (for the youngest), Acro Dance, Ballett, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theater, Commercial, and Urban styles. Courses follow the school and university calendar, running over a full season divided into winter and summer semesters, with new classes starting in autumn. For dancers aged 12 and up and adults, you can commit to a full year, semester, or buy 10-class blocks, 5-class blocks, or drop in. Younger children (3–6 years, called Minis) and other kids' classes require year or semester registration to keep groups stable. A trial class (Schnupperstunde) is available to try any class before committing.

The studio runs an official Competition Team for dancers in Graz who want to raise their skills to the next level and compete at battles, championships, and events. Three age groups compete: Juniors (10–15), Seniors (16–24), and Commercial Team (12–28). Open training happens in June and auditions in September.

Monthly workshops and masterclasses bring in guest educators from Austria and abroad, covering Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Commercial, Industry, and Hip Hop. Workshops are open to dancers aged 12 and up, whether or not they currently attend weekly classes, and can be cancelled up to 48 hours before start. The studio also runs a summer Kids Camp (6–12 years) combining dance, acrobatics, yoga, creative workshops, and theatre training, with a final showcase on Friday. An end-of-season show (Ende Juni/Anfang Juli) happens every year for all dancers enrolled for the full season or summer semester.

Foundations on the Road offers dance trips for pre-professional dancers to major industry hubs including London, New York, and Los Angeles. Studio merch—shirts, hoodies, and joggers—is produced locally in Graz and supports the community, studio development, and fair team wages. The studio also rents space to other organisations and takes bookings for performances and private lessons.
