About this studio
Goins Dancing opened in 2009 with a mission to provide quality dance classes that are inclusive of all children. Founded by Kathryn Geddings, who dreamed since childhood of creating a dance environment focused on building positive self-esteem, the studio grew out of her experience witnessing unkind and bullying behaviours in dance settings. She wanted to create a space that taught not just technique but also empathy.
The studio teaches ballet, hip-hop, tap, tumble, jazz, lyrical, and tiny dancer classes for ages 1–18. Ballet focuses on strength, balance, poise, and vocabulary. Hip-hop emphasises upbeat, high-energy movement with bouncing, body isolation, and attitude. Tap uses coordinated foot movements to create rhythmic percussion and is believed to improve memory and academics. Tumble combines gymnastic and dance techniques with progressive skill-building. Jazz is playful and character-driven, teaching turns, leaps, jumps, ball changes, pas de bourree, and jazz squares. Lyrical blends ballet and jazz with acting and art, expressing emotion through movement. Tiny Dancer is for ages 1–3 and includes music, movement songs, parachutes, and gross motor activities with a participating adult.
Goins Dancing also offers Dance PossAbilities, an adaptive dance class designed specifically for dancers with disabilities and those who benefit from additional accommodations. Classes for this programme run Mondays 5:45–6:30 p.m. and are designed for ages 4–26. Each class includes a predictable routine, visual supports, simple sign language, positive reinforcement, and ends with fun dances, games, and a sticker.
The studio operates Monday to Wednesday 4–8 p.m. and Thursday 4–9 p.m. It runs a performance company and competition team designed for all skill levels and ages 2–18. The studio describes itself as a small, close-knit dance family where dancers are taught to be supportive of one another. Tuition starts at $50 per month, with classes running August to May. The studio offers free trial classes and maintains a parent portal, parent handbook, and Facebook parents group.
