About this studio
Hall School of Dancing is Central Kentucky's longest tradition in ballroom dancing, now serving its fifth generation of students. The school teaches ballroom and popular dance styles to young people in grades 6, 7, and 8, with classes held Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Crestwood Christian Church on Bellefonte Drive at Glendover Road in Lexington.
Richard Hall Jouett conducts classes alongside a staff of assistants. Jouett is the son of Marjorie Hall and grandson of the late Howard and Marjorie Hall, and has been associated with the school for the past 61 years. The programme emphasises not just dance technique but also poise, courtesy, confidence, discipline and ballroom etiquette, preparing students for future social situations.
Classes run for 10 weeks during the autumn term and conclude with a Winter Holiday Dance. The 2026 schedule begins on Thursday, 17 September and runs through to 3 December. Enrollments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting 1 July and continuing through 22 October. The school welcomes students regardless of race, colour, religion or national origin, and offers scholarship and payment plan opportunities for families who may need them—contact Mr. Jouett for details.
Students learn popular dance movements including swing, Latin, waltz and other rhythms in a fun and personable atmosphere. Advanced instruction is available to returning students as enrollments allow. The school is not affiliated with Cotillion, though admission is open to all and not by invitation only. Parents and adult family members are cordially invited to observe classes at any time.

Your first visit
You'll attend a 10-week course of Thursday evening classes from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Crestwood Christian Church, learning ballroom and popular dance styles alongside your peers in a focus on technique, etiquette and social confidence, ending with a Winter Holiday Dance.
