About this studio

Kay's Dance Movement is a dance studio in Midtown Tulsa serving families with children aged 18 months through teens. The studio is celebrating its 10th season and offers classes across nine dance styles: ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acro, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater, and pointe. Classes are organised by age group—Creative Movers/Parent & Me (18 months to 3 years), Tiny Dancers (3–4), Mini Dancers (5–7), Youth Dancers (8–10), Jr Dancers (11–13), and Teen Dancers (14–18)—with instruction matched to both age and ability. Each class typically has no more than 12 students and meets once weekly, with class lengths ranging from 30 to 60 minutes depending on program and age.

The studio's philosophy centres on building confident, kind, and resilient young people through personalised instruction and a supportive community. Kay Worthington, the owner and director, has over 30 years of teaching experience. She studied Dance Education at the University of Central Oklahoma and is a member of the International Tap Association, Julie Kay Studio Owner Mastermind (JKSOM), and the National Dance Education Organization. Her choreography has earned regional, state, and national awards. The teaching team includes Aly Gotcher, trained in hip hop, contemporary, jazz, ballet, and lyrical with award-winning choreography; Chloe Johnson, who has trained through elite programs like GoPro and TOPStars and has earned choreography awards and judges' choice honours; Kara Menellea, a recent University of Tulsa psychology graduate who trained in tap, jazz, ballet, Broadway jazz, hip hop, musical theater, lyrical, contemporary, and modern, and was selected for the BISI Chicago Dance Company's junior competition team; Ruby Robison, an Assistant Co-Director with 18 years of dance experience and a shelf of choreography awards; and Michelle Davis, a classically trained instructor with over 19 years of experience in ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and Broadway, holding an Associate of Arts degree in Theatre with an emphasis in stage management.

The studio offers multiple pathways: recreational classes for all ages, Showteam performance opportunities, and competitive training. Performance opportunities include the KDM Performance Team, which showcases dancers through monthly appearances at local events, community events, sporting events, and festivals. Additional enrichment programmes include a Leadership Program for dancers in 6th–12th grade, the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (Tulsa's only chapter), and KDM Choreo Lab, where dancers explore movement creation and choreography. All KDM mobile programs at Mayo, Cross Creek, and Faith perform in the studio's shows.

The studio is located at 3023 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, right off Harvard and the BA (Broken Arrow Avenue). New students receive a complimentary trial class with no fee, and the studio accepts enrolment year-round. Registration is available through a parent portal, in person during studio hours, or by text. A one-time discount is offered on the day of trial if families register at that time.
