About this studio

Miss Shelly's School of Dance has served Tulsa since 1982, bringing ballet, tap, modern, jazz and hip hop to thousands of students. The studio accepts dancers from as young as 3 months (Baby Beats classes) through serious teenagers pursuing dance as a career, and also offers classes for adults who appreciate dance.

The teaching staff are experts in their disciplines and carefully selected to reflect Miss Shelly's dance philosophy and love for students. Staff members attend seminars and conventions throughout the year to continue their training. The studio operates across multiple studios (Studio I, II, and III) to accommodate its range of classes.

Classes span every major style. Baby and toddler classes include Baby Beats (3–12 months), Mommy and Me (18 months–2.5 years), and Baby Ballet (2.5–3 years). Children progress through Ballet, Combination classes (Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Tap/Jazz), Jazz/Hip Hop/Pom, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Modern. Pre-pointe and pointe classes are available for advancing dancers in grades 3 and up, with teacher approval required for pre-pointe entry. Advanced Ballet is offered for grades 7–8.

Adult classes meet throughout the week: Adult Ballet runs Monday mornings and Thursday evenings with Miss Shelly; Adult Tap is taught by Miss Shelly on Tuesday and Friday mornings and by Miss Kathleen as Beginning Adult Tap on Wednesday evenings; Adult Fitness/Hip Hop is taught by Miss Kendall on Monday evenings. All adult classes are described as a fun, relaxed environment designed to develop dance skills and build friendships.

The studio also offers special needs classes and maintains a summer schedule with additional classes including Lyrical and Contemporary. Birthday parties are available, and the studio publishes a newsletter and brochure.
