About this studio
RJ Dance Co is a private lesson studio in Alexandria run by Rebecca and Jeff, two experienced dancers and choreographers. They teach over 20 styles of dance—spanning ballroom, Latin, swing, salsa, and many more—and work with students of all levels, from people taking their first steps to competitive dancers.
Rebecca joined the ballroom community in 2010 and has particular strength in American Smooth, Rhythm, and West Coast Swing. She brings background in gymnastics, acrobatics, and cheer, and uses knowledge of both bodywork and psychology to help students learn. Jeff earned a scholarship to the Helmrich School of Arts at the University of Oklahoma and has cultivated 17 years of dance experience across more than 20 styles including American Smooth, Rhythm, Latin, and Country. He studies physiology and personal training to understand how the body moves, and is an active West Coast Swing competitor.
Lessons are by appointment only, with core hours Monday–Thursday 1 pm–9 pm, Friday 1 pm–8 pm, and weekends 11 am–3:30 pm. The studio sits at 18 Roth St with a free parking lot behind the building, and is close to both King and Eisenhower metro stations. When you book an introductory lesson, you'll explore basic movements and try a variety of styles to find your fit. The instructors learn about your interests and goals and recommend a programme suited to you; there is time to ask questions about next steps. This isn't choreography to a specific song—it's an introduction to partner dancing and how they teach.
The studio offers recreational social dancing for confidence and fitness, wedding dances tailored to your song and style (with options for special packages including guest classes), special occasion coaching to master moves for reunions or parties, and competitive training for those with performance ambitions. Your first visit
