About this studio
Sandra's School of Dance has been open for over 45 years in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights. The studio occupies a 10,000 sq. ft. facility with three spacious dance studios, a full-size gym, a dancewear shop, and comfortable parent viewing areas.
Classes are organised by age and skill level. Mini and Me (18 months to 2 years) runs on Saturdays at 11:00am and introduces toddlers to movement through musical instruments, props, singing and dance. Combo classes (ages 3–9) teach tap, ballet, gymnastics, hip hop, and combinations of these styles in beginner-friendly progression. Educational classes serve ages 6–17 across seven levels in each style.
The ballet curriculum offers seven levels with structured classical training in technique, alignment, strength and flexibility. Jazz classes teach Broadway, commercial and contemporary styles layered on ballet technique, also across seven levels. Tap develops rhythm and timing; hip hop encourages individual style and personality; gymnastics/acrobatics builds strength, flexibility and body awareness across five levels; and ballroom is newly improved with levels from Newcomer to Full Bronze.
Classes meet once or twice weekly depending on level and style. Ballet 1 and Jazz 1 meet once a week; as students progress, frequency increases to twice weekly or more. Pointe classes begin at Ballet 4. Educational classes are scheduled throughout weekdays and Saturdays. A competitive dance company (Sandra's Dance Company) is available for pre-professional dancers seeking advanced training, performance opportunities, and competitive experience. The studio hosts an annual Spring Recital where students perform.
