About this studio
Studio 9 occupies the 8th floor of 9 Des Voeux Road West in Sheung Wan, spanning over 7,500 sq. ft. with breathtaking sea views, high ceilings, and spacious dance and relaxation areas. The studio teaches a wide range of styles including Ballroom, Latin, Tango, Salsa, American Smooth, Bachata, and Flamenco, with classes for both adults and children from age 4 onwards.
The teaching team includes internationally acclaimed instructors. Vlad Kvartin is a professional Latin American Ballroom dance champion known for appearances on Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, The Oscars, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and Saturday Night Live, as well as choreography work on Apple TV+, Hulu, and Showtime productions. He is the reigning 2024 Hong Kong Cup champion and a World Showdance finalist. Nikita Shipitsin brings 7 years of teaching experience from Russia, with competition credentials including 2nd Place at Blackpool China 2024 Open Amateur Ballroom, 4th Place at Malaysia Open Ballroom Amateur, and Champion at Shenzhen 2024 Rising Star Open Amateur Ballroom; he specialises in teaching kids and youth dancers. Elena Samodanova is an internationally acclaimed multi-award-winning choreographer, adjudicator, and dancer with a career spanning Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. She served as judge and choreographer on the Russian Dancing with the Stars, performed on the Australian version, and choreographed for India's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. A four-time Australian national champion who placed in the Top 10 globally in Latin American dance at the World Dance Championships, Elena holds the highest teaching credentials in Hong Kong, Australia, England, and beyond, and is the creative director of Hollywood Entertainment HK.
Class offerings include Beginner's Latin Class covering Cha Cha, Rumba, and Jive; Salsa Solo Dance Class requiring no partner; and weekly Social Dancing classes in Bachata, Salsa, Latin Waltz, Tango, and Hip Hop open to all levels. The Kids Dance Education program focuses on Latin and Ballroom training for solos and couples with emphasis on technique, expression, and competition preparation. The Pro-Am Dance Program offers coaching and performance opportunities in Latin, Ballroom, and Smooth styles for students ready to compete.
Wedding Dance services include choreography for first dances, Mother-Son and Father-Daughter dances, and Bridesmaids or Groomsmen performances, with instructors guiding couples through their chosen song and style. The studio also offers Studio Rental, Events, Workshops, and Seminars, welcoming both dance instructors and amateur enthusiasts to use the facilities.
