About this studio
Studio B Dance has been operating in Germantown, Tennessee since 1990, with roots that go back much further. The studio was founded in 1939 under the direction of Ms. Debra's Aunt B, and expanded throughout the Bradshaw family to Connecticut, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Debra's mother owned her own studio for over 50 years before Debra opened her own studio in New Jersey for 3 years, then relocated to Tennessee to establish the current location.
The studio offers classes across a wide range of styles and age groups. For the youngest dancers, Ballet/Tap combines both styles for ages 3–7, with classes separated by age. Pom/Tumble is available for ages 5–9. From age 6 onwards, students can access Jazz; from age 7, Hip Hop and Musical Theater; from age 8, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, and Leaps, Jumps, and Turns; and from age 10, Contemporary. Boys Hip Hop and Tap classes are open to all ages. Private lessons are available upon request.
Studio B's core philosophy centres on accommodating every level and age. If you're a 13-year-old dancer with no prior experience, you'll train with other 13-year-olds at the same stage. If you have extensive ballet training but are new to tap, or intermediate at hip hop, the studio will place you in the appropriate level and age group. Students have the opportunity to attend dance conventions throughout the year. The studio operates a performing company with five groups: Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior Ensemble, and Senior; interested dancers can contact the studio for an audition.
The studio operates four dedicated dance spaces. Studio A features a sprung wood floor, while Studios B, C, and D are each equipped with Marley sprung floors. Studio B is committed to supporting its community, regularly performing at charity events and festivals. Each year the studio selects a charity to support, teaching students the importance of giving back. This year, the studio has chosen the Commission on Missing and Exploited Children (COMEC).
