About this studio
Tennessee Conservatory of Fine Arts has been teaching dance in Knoxville for 31 years under the direction of owner and co-founder Gwendolyn Johnson Delaney. Located in Fountain City, just minutes off I-640, the studio serves families across the Knoxville area from two studio spaces.
TCFA offers classically based training with a commitment to artistic excellence. The core curriculum includes ballet at multiple levels (A through D and Pointe), jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and acro dance. The studio is a certified Acrobatic Arts studio offering all levels of acro training. Classes run year-round with structured schedules across both Studio A and Studio B, plus dedicated summer intensives and camps.
Young dancers (ages 3–6) can start with Creative Movement classes, while older students progress through graded ballet levels with supporting technique classes. Teen and adult classes are available in ballet, jazz, and tap. The studio runs weekend Advanced Ballet and master class sessions, competition training, and rehearsal time for Ballet Gloria—the studio's performance company that offers students the chance to audition for the Junior Company.
Enrichment opportunities include competitions, workshops, and master classes designed to broaden students' experiences. TCFA's summer programme features multi-week dance camps such as Butterflies & Blossoms (ballet, tap, modern for ages 3–6), Broadway Babies, Ballerina Tea Party, and a week-long Musical Theater Dance Camp (9am–3pm daily) that covers ballet barre, jazz, tap, modern, stage direction, and dance history in film and stage productions.
The studio emphasises a nurturing, mentorship-driven environment rooted in strong values and personal development at every stage of training. The goal is to prepare students for success in the performing arts at any level while instilling a lifelong love for the arts.
