The Granada LA Nightclub & Dance Studio

The Granada LA is a three-storey entertainment venue in Alhambra combining a Latin dance studio, nightclub, restaurant and bar, all decorated in 1930s style. The studio side offers 25 classes a week in Ballroom, Latin, Salsa, Bachata, Swing and Tango, taught by experienced instructors including Hector Llamas (resident teacher since 2003, Professional Sportsman's Lodge Salsa Champion), Maya Ricon-Becker (teaching since 2010, specialising in helping those with little to no dance experience), Jo Quinones (Studio Manager, trained in ballet, Puerto Rican folk dance and jazz, certified by Arthur Murray Dance Studios), Arthur Levine (trained in Salsa, Mambo, Pachanga, Bachata, Ballroom, Hip-hop and Jazz), Zweli Barton (World Champion Bachata Dancer, 2015 Bachata Pro Team Champion, 2017 LA's Top Social Salsa Dancer Professional Champion), Omar Guttie (over two decades experience, known for versatility and innovative New School Salsa approach blending LA-style on1 with salsa on2), and Brendan Jason (Hip-hop instructor, trained by popping and locking legend Pop 'N' Taco, choreographer for PiNK, Paulina Rubio and Too $hort, certified by Arthur Murray). Private lessons are available by appointment.

Nightclub operations run Friday and Saturday with live entertainment across 3 floors: the Salsa room, Bachata room and Reggaeton/Hiphop on the patio. Sunday offerings include the third week of each month for live music Ballroom Dinner Dance with Two's Company, and once-monthly Cuban timba events on the main floor. Club classes run at 8:30pm and 9:30pm on featured nights, priced at $20 before 10pm or $25 after (cash only for cover). Friday group classes run at 7:30pm (Cuban Salsa Partnering, Beginner), 8:30pm (Salsa 1 Beginner and Salsa 2 Intermediate) and 9:30pm (Bachata Open Level), priced at $15 prepaid or $17 at door, including club entry. Special events feature live concerts with artists like Jensen, Mario Baro and Jean & Alex, with ticketed Bachata lessons and club access.

The studio offers dedicated wedding first dance packages: Single Consultation Lesson ($89), Silver Couples Package with 5 private lessons ($425), and Gold Couples Package with 10 private lessons (price to be added). For quinceaneras, the studio choreographs the Group Waltz, Father-Daughter Dance and Group Fun Dance, with pricing from $89 per lesson (Father/Daughter) or $119 per 45-minute lesson (Group), with Bronze (5 lessons) and Gold (10 lessons) packages available. Choreography is customized to chosen songs, abilities and timelines, with options for dips, lifts and dance mashups.

The venue also hosts special events, concerts, banquet facilities for weddings and receptions, quinceaneras, birthday parties, formal banquets and funeral receptions. The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday for dinner and acts as caterer for rentals. The Granada LA accommodates film and television shoot rentals and conferences. The facility is available for floor and building rentals for receptions and formal events. The space is shared with other activities and groups throughout the day and night.

All offer private lessons, showcase performances and shows.

Maya Ricon-Becker specialises in helping those with little to no dance experience become comfortable on the dance floor, and the studio offers beginner-level group classes (Cuban Salsa Partnering Beginner, Salsa 1 Beginner) alongside open-level and intermediate options.
