About this studio

Velocity Dance Center is a children's dance studio in Oklahoma City now in its nineteenth season. The studio serves dancers aged 10 months through 18, with age-grouped classes starting from Boppin' Minis (10 months to 5 years, parent-participation classes) through Teens (8th–12th grade). They teach Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Cheer and Pom across recreational and competitive tracks.

The studio's approach prioritises growth over competition. Classes are curriculum-based and designed to meet children where they are developmentally. Every child gets a free trial class, and the studio offers a 30-day money-back guarantee with no hidden fees. Pricing is all-inclusive: tuition covers recital and costume fees, registration, and parent portal access. Monthly payment plans are available.

Performance opportunities include a Winter Showcase (held at Mustang Performing Arts, $125) and an end-of-year Recital ($250, also at Mustang Performing Arts). Company auditions are held in June, and company dancers can audition from Kindergarten onwards.

The teaching team includes Ms. Meghan (Founder & CEO, Bachelor of Science in Dance Management from Oklahoma City University, member of More Than Just Great Dancing®), Ms. Courtney (Director of Dancer Services and Company Director, 16 years at VDC, degree in Dance Performance from University of Central Oklahoma, K–12 teaching certificate), Ms. Camryn (Director of Customer Care, Bachelor of Science in Dance Management from Oklahoma City University), Ms. Sloan (Director of Classroom Experience, fourth-year instructor, Masters Degree in School Counseling, upper elementary counselor for Edmond Public Schools), Ms. Ria (Lead Teacher and Ballet Curriculum Champion, 13th season, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance from Friends University, performed with Sesame Street Live), Ms. Liz (Lead Teacher for Academy and Company, fourth-year instructor, Bachelor of Arts in Dance Education from University of Central Oklahoma, K–12 Teaching Certificate, elected Teacher of the Year 2021–2022), and Ms. Mya (Customer Care Team and Tap Curriculum Champion, third-year instructor).

First classes begin with downloading the Watch Me Grow app to create an account for class viewing. Dancers wear comfortable clothing like leggings and a t-shirt; bare feet are recommended for Ballet, Jazz, Cheer/Pom, Dance N Learn, Leap N Learn, and Hippity Hop; tennis shoes are best for Hip Hop and Tap.
