Raja Feather Kelly

Raja Feather Kelly is a choreographer, director, and dance artist based in New York and New Jersey, and the artistic director of the feath3r theory, a dance-theatre-media company he founded in 2009. In 2018, the feath3r theory merged with New Brooklyn Theatre, expanding Kelly's platform for collaborative work across dance, theatre, and media. Kelly earned his B.A. in Dance and English from Connecticut College and was born in Fort Hood, Texas.

Kelly's Broadway choreography has shaped major productions across multiple theatrical genres. He served as choreographer for the Broadway production of *A Strange Loop*, and for *Lempicka*. He also worked as development consultant and original choreographer on *Suffs*, extending his influence across the musical theatre landscape.

In 2024, Kelly made his playwriting debut with *The Fires*, which he both wrote and directed at Soho Rep. That same season, his choreography appeared in the Off-Broadway productions *Teeth* and *Lempicka*, demonstrating his sustained practice across creation and execution. His work spans dance-theatre, Broadway production, and directorial vision, establishing him as a multi-disciplinary artist navigating contemporary performance.

In 2025, the Doris Duke Foundation recognized Kelly as a Doris Duke Artist, affirming his significance to the field. His practice is rooted in the integration of choreography, theatrical direction, and original writing—a convergence that positions him at the intersection of dance and theatre.
