About this studio
Dance Lab operates two locations in Charleston: The Lab at West Ashley (1660 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard) and The Loft in North Charleston, offering separate youth and adult programmes. The studio centres on Lab Co, a competitive and performance-track youth company with an end-of-year concert at the Charleston Music Hall. The Lab Co season runs September 8, 2026 through June 6, 2027, with audition-based placement across ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and breaking.
Youth classes run daily Monday through Sunday, organised by age group and skill level. Instructors include Tay Solomon, Miguel Robinson, Amanda Evans, Morgan Lutz, Jillian Vrba, Jess Davenport, Megan Pickett, Laura Bland, Erica Capdevila, Harper Clark, Jonathan Singleton, Andrew Burnell, Sarah Wagler, and Kayla Thomas. Classes range from Teeny Tiny Hip Hop + Tap Combo (ages 2–3, Sundays 10–10:45 AM) through Lab Co Pointe (audition only, Thursdays 7:30–8:30 PM). The summer youth programme, Summer Sesh, runs July 6–24 with drop-in classes in contemporary jazz, hip hop, tap, ballet, breakdance, and lyrical jazz at $25 per class or $180 for a 10-class pack.
Adult classes are accessible through a shared membership system covering both The Loft and Dance Lab. The Loft is adults-only; Dance Lab is a shared community space with youth and adult programming. All adult class cards and memberships work at both locations. Unbound Ballet, a resident programme at The Loft, offers contemporary, technique-rooted ballet in six-week series that are not included in standard memberships. Bad Girls Club, the adult performance programme hosted at Dance Lab, is designed for dancers who want to train, rehearse, and perform together. A one-week unlimited trial costs $29.
Booking happens through the branded LOFT app (available on Google Play and Apple Store). The studio emphasises accessibility: no dance experience is required for adult classes. Dress code recommends clothing that covers the knees, non-marking sneakers (light or white soles only), and bare feet or socks are welcome. Adults may wear any dance shoes. The studio offers space rental and creative projects alongside its core classes.
