Formations Dance Company

Formations Dance Company runs classes for children and adults across four studios: the main studio at Fen Ditton Hall in Cambridge, plus sister studios in Exning (Suffolk), Cherry Hinton (Cambridge), and Tuddenham (Suffolk). The school describes itself as friendly and inclusive, built on values of kindness, wholehearted commitment, and celebrating each student's unique personality.

The range of disciplines is broad. Acrobatics classes—their flagship offering—run at three levels from Tiny Tumblers (ages all, Level 1) through to Level 3, with focus on progression from cartwheels and forward rolls to aerials and back handsprings. Ballet runs from beginner to Advanced Pointe work. You can also take Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Commercial (for teens and adults with previous experience), Cheerleading, Musical Theatre, and Gymnastics. Most classes are for children; some adult classes include Adult Tap, Adult Beginner Mix, Adult Fitness and Adult Contemporary.

The teaching staff are well qualified. Principal Hannah Stockbridge (director) holds Licentiate IDTA qualifications in Ballet and is Acrobatic Arts, Acrotrix and Alixa Flexibility certified. Miss Rori has a BA Hons in Dance from Bath Spa University and is a Level 2 British Gymnastics Coach. Miss Megan studied Musical Theatre full-time at Bird College in London and has performed at X-Factor semi-finals and BBC Television events; she also brings SEND expertise from primary school teaching. Miss Sarah trained in New Zealand, has performed internationally including two seasons as choreographer in Greece, and has over 9 years of teaching experience; her choreography has been recognised at BSICA Awards and she adjudicates at national and regional dance competitions.

Classes run every weekday. Monday through Friday timetables show a dense schedule: for example, Mondays at the main studio include Level 1 Ballet, Level 1 Tap, Level 1 and 2 Musical Theatre, Lyrical, and Adult Fitness. Wednesday offers three levels of Acrobatics. Thursday includes Commercial Mix and Contemporary. Private lessons are available and scheduled flexibly across multiple days. An Elite Acro class runs by invitation on Tuesday evenings.
