Mad Dance House

Mad Dance House has been teaching dance in Brisbane since 2003, offering over 60 open classes each week across Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Commercial and a wide range of street dance styles. The studio is located at 43 Adelaide Street in Brisbane CBD, 8 minutes walk from Central Station, with five dance studios and The Loft Theatre available for classes and hire.

Classes are for ages 17 years and over unless otherwise specified. The studio runs intro courses consistently throughout the year for absolute beginners, with zero prior experience needed. All styles have intro levels designed to teach proper foundations before progressing. The studio welcomes complete beginners through to experienced professionals, and students mention the inclusive atmosphere and welcoming staff who greet over a hundred people per night with genuine care.

The faculty comprises dozens of industry leaders teaching over 20 different dance styles. Notable instructors include Jasmine Meakin (1.5 million YouTube subscribers on Mega Jam channel, 500 million video views globally, known for feminine street-style hip hop), Wanida Serce (creative director and performance artist with work for Jessica Mauboy, Commonwealth Games and Vice campaigns), Ngavaine Tearea (trained under Parris Goebel with The Royal Family, performed with Cirque De Soleil in Michael Jackson ONE), Luis Pinto (co-creator of Mega Jam, performing and teaching since the 1980s), Eden Zerk (Australia's Got Talent performer, toured with AP Dhillon), Alexa Brown (performed with The Royal Family and Red Bull events), Glen Reyes (teaching since 2017, focuses on texture and musicality), and Elton Jun (performer and choreographer with credits including UQ Theatre and Underground Broadway).

Unlimited membership is $55 per week (3-month minimum, $65 joining fee) and includes access to 60+ classes weekly, one free guest pass monthly, and 15% off select courses. Casual passes range from $26.50 for a single class to $190 for a 10-class pass valid for 3 months. Friday and Saturday classes are $18 each. The studio also offers satellite classes in Wynnum, MacGregor and Sunnybank Hills, with hip hop classes for ages 5–7, 8–11, 12–15 and 16+/adult in Wynnum.

Beyond classes, Mad Dance House hosts workshops, awards grants, produces shows and events, and supplies entertainment for private events. The mentor course with Jasmine Meakin runs 6 × 75-minute sessions for intermediate students aiming for advanced level, limited to 15 students at $195 standard ($165.75 for members). The studio runs term-based satellite hip hop classes in Wynnum (Term 1: April–June, Term 2: July–September, Term 3: September–November).

Walk in anytime to drop into a class—no booking required for most sessions, though popular classes fill quickly so online booking is recommended. Arrive 10 minutes early to check in on the iPad or at reception. Bring water, wear comfortable clothes that allow movement (tighter fitting for ballet and contemporary), clean socks for some styles, and appropriate footwear (sneakers for most classes, ballet flats, tap shoes or heels as needed). You'll find bathrooms and change rooms on both levels, cold water fountain, fridge and microwave. The staff are known for making newcomers feel welcome regardless of dance level.

Absolute beginners are welcome and should start with 'Absolute Beginner' level classes or intro courses designed to teach foundations with zero prior experience needed.
