Before your first class
The academy welcomes all abilities and offers a free taster class; no assessments are used, and the focus is on building confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.

About this studio
Mini Professionals Dance Academy was founded by Principal Bethany Gorton and offers over 80 classes across studios in Kidlington, Bicester and Abingdon. The academy teaches Contemporary, Commercial, Funk, Modern, Lyrical, Ballet, Tap, Hip-hop, Jazz, Acrobatics, Gymnastics and Musical Theatre to students from 6 weeks through to adults.
Classes are organised by age group: Tinies (4–7), Mids (8–11), Teens (12+), Baby classes (2–3), and Adult classes (18+). The academy also runs specialised squads including Elite Squad, Squad A, Squad B, and Acro Squad, which operate by invitation. Stage School classes for Tinies and Mids run on Saturdays, and there are Pre-Vocational and Student Success courses available.
Beyond regular classes, MPDA offers private tuition (£50 per hour for one student, £80 per hour for two), holiday camps, dance parties (£160 for one hour, £260 for two hours, with optional studio hire), and soft play parties for children under 4. The academy also provides wedding choreography, corporate dance and fitness sessions, and school workshops. Children can try a free taster class before enrolling.
The academy is known for its supportive and inclusive environment. Several alumni have successfully auditioned for top performing arts colleges, including Performers College in Essex, Wilkes Academy, Urdang Academy London, and The Place – London Contemporary Dance School. Lola, one former student, trained with the academy from age 9 and went on to study at Wilkes with a degree in Musical Theatre. Josie joined in 2016 and now trains full-time at Performers College. Sima, who studied all disciplines and took multiple private lessons weekly, gained a place at The Place starting in September. Katy auditioned successfully for Dancebox Studios in 2021 and graduated with distinction before joining London Studio Centre.
The main Kidlington studio is purpose-built. The academy participates in community events including Cowley Road Carnival and Oxford's Light Festival, plus annual showcases. Seasonal events include the annual MPDA Christmas disco, Easter and Summer camps. The academy has a 5.0 Google rating across 152 reviews and was voted Britain's most loved dance school.
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes begin on time, so arrive at least 5 minutes early and be ready to dance when scheduled. Children are expected to wear class-appropriate uniform: generally black fitted clothing for females or loose black clothing for males, though custom MPDA uniform items are available in the shop. Teachers are encouraging and enthusiastic, with a focus on building confidence and self-belief alongside technical skills.
