Off Broadway Dance Studio

Off Broadway Dance Studio has been teaching dance in the historic Uptown area of New Orleans since 1983. The studio is owned and directed by Jeanne Pecot, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama and dance from St. Mary's Dominican College through Loyola University. She has danced in classical ballets including The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia, and continues to choreograph summer productions for Tulane University's Little Lyric Theatre, including Oliver, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Into the Woods.

The studio teaches eight dance styles: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theater, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, and Combo classes. Classes run from Tiny Dancers (ages 2–3) through Teen and Advanced levels (ages 13 and up), with age-appropriate instruction throughout. The facility features professional-grade sprung marley floors, full-length mirrors, and an advanced sound system. A newly remodeled space supports both regular classes and Company/Pre-Company programs for dancers seeking deeper performance pathways.

The teaching team brings substantial credentials. Company Director Jeannette Pecot holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Southern Mississippi, with four years in the Repertory Dance Company and performances at the American College Dance Festival in 2007 and 2009. She has choreographed original works and taught modern, contemporary, and jazz classes. Business Manager Suzanne P. Hirstius, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, has danced since age two and has received high-score awards and judges' choice awards from the Louisiana Association of Dance Masters, Encore Dance Competition, and Dance Masters of America. She teaches ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. Additional instructors include Mrs. Cayla Cole Breaux (Petite/Junior Contemporary, Pre-Pointe, Junior Jazz, Pre-Teen Jazz, and Advanced Hip Hop) and Ms. Jamyra Durant (Intermediate Hip Hop).

The studio emphasizes both technical excellence and individual attention.
