About this studio

Salt Lake Dance Center has been training dancers since 1983 and is recognised as one of the finest dance schools in the intermountain west. The studio serves ages 3 to 17 across all levels of ability, with a year-round programme built on ballet and pre-ballet as the foundation, alongside jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary.

The curriculum spans pre-ballet and tap for the youngest students (8 years and younger), progressing through ballet divided by age and level on a progressive syllabus. Pointe work is offered for dancers with strong ballet technique, developed through prepointe strength training before advancing en pointe. Ballet training follows the traditional Russian Ballet style with knowledge of all other ballet styles. Jazz classes emphasise technique, style, and performance quality, and are popular with students interested in cheerleading, drill teams, professional companies, and dance scholarships. Hip-hop remains a favourite among students, with instructors providing individual attention within a collaborative environment.

Competitive teams are available by audition for dancers seeking accelerated training. Teams compete each spring and perform annually at the studio's benefit concert; auditions are held in May.

Many students have gone on to join national dance programs on scholarships or as full company members, including New York City Ballet School, Atlanta Ballet, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Alvin Ailey, and Disneyland Professional Dance Company. Others have received scholarships to university dance programmes at Brigham Young University, University of Utah, Snow College, Rick's College, and College of Eastern Utah.

Classes run Monday to Friday 4pm–8pm and Saturday 10am–2pm. The studio offers studio rental and an online registration system with a parent portal for managing schedules, payments, and account information.
