About this studio
SMASH Dance Studio is a boutique dance and fitness studio in San Antonio, Texas, offering classes for all ages and skill levels in a positive, supportive environment. Founded in Las Vegas in 2005 by former performer Lisa Valdes, SMASH moved to San Antonio in 2010 and quickly became part of the local dance community.
Kids programmes start as young as age 3 and continue through teens. Children can explore Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Breakdance, Musical Theatre, Pom, K Pop, Acro, and Zumba Kids. The studio runs a Kosmic K-Pop Dance Team for passionate young dancers who want to perform and grow as part of a close-knit group. Every year, students take the stage for two showcases that raise funds for local charities, teaching the importance of community and kindness through dance. Parents can watch live streams of regular classes directly on their phone through the studio's app, allowing them to stay informed while kids remain focused in class.
Adult classes combine high-energy movement, strength training, and rhythm. Weekly offerings include Zumba (a Latin-inspired cardio workout), Hip Hop Cardio, Booty Abs & Thighs (focused toning for core and lower body), Latin Dance & Tone, and BadaXX Kickbox Tone (a fusion of cardio and strength training). Specialty Thursday classes bring variety and flexibility, and Community Bootcamp offers open sessions that bring San Antonio together. All classes are designed for beginners to advanced dancers, with instructors breaking down moves step by step.
Beyond regular classes, SMASH offers private dance parties. Adult parties range from 1-hour fitness-style sessions (with themes like Sexy Cardio, Line Dancing, Belly Dancing, Latin Dancing, Hip Hop Cardio, and Zumba) to 2-hour Vegas Dance Parties (themed experiences including Cowgirl Cuties, Beyoncé Beauties, Sin City Heels, High Rollers, Hott Mamis, and Vegas Pole). Kids dance parties are available for ages 6 and up and include a 40-minute guided dance lesson with age-appropriate choreography, plus celebration time with music and lights. Minimum group size for adult parties is 7 participants; maximum is 30 depending on room availability.
The studio rents three rooms for rehearsals, fitness classes, and private events. Professional choreography services are available for weddings, performances, and competitions. Through Project SMASH Community Outreach, the studio shares the joy of dance with those who may not otherwise have access, teaching the importance of giving back and staying active.
