About this studio
Studio Starr is a dance studio in Wilmington, DE led by Miss Amy, the owner, director and lead choreographer. Miss Amy began her own dance journey at age 8 under Mary Bradfield at a home studio in Richardson Park, then studied at Diamond State Dancers under Cheryl Armstrong. Over her 25+ year teaching career, she has taught at Diamond State Dancers, Precision Dance Center, Deena's School of Dance, KMC Dance, and DreamChasers Gymnastics. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and musical theater. Studio Starr opened in its current form after Miss Amy's 23rd year as a dance instructor; the studio is now in its fourth season of operation.
The teaching team includes Miss Gi as Assistant Director and Lead Choreographer for Contemporary & HipHop, and Miss Gabbi as Lead Choreographer. Miss Amy draws on advanced training that includes classes at Philadelphia's Koresh Dance Company, attendance at The Pulse Tour in New York City, and educator development at Rhee Gold's DanceLife Teacher Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.
The studio runs a full seasonal schedule with regular classes Monday through Thursday 4:30–9:30 pm, Friday 5:00–7:30 pm, and Saturday 8:30–11:00 am during the regular season. Summer classes run in July and August, with a Summer Preview Week in mid-August before Season 4 begins on 31 August 2026. The calendar includes major events: Opening & Finale Auditions in September, a Christmas Show in December, a One Day Convention in November, a Sleepover in February, and a Travel Convention in March.
Studio Starr recognizes student achievement through annual awards: 2024 Miss Sophia M, 2025 Miss Aubrey A, and 2026 Miss Kayla H, along with CAM Scholarship Winners. The studio maintains a Parent Portal and publishes a Studio Wish List for families. Recital videos are available for pickup in late July.
