About this studio
The Ballet and Dance Center teaches ballet, tap, modern, jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, zumba, and pilates across two locations in the Syracuse area: 3470 Erie Blvd. East, Suite 300 in DeWitt, and 920 Euclid Ave. in Syracuse. The studio operates a Youth Division and an Adult Division, with the 2026-27 dance year beginning Monday, September 14th.
Youth classes are organised into two pathways. General Level classes serve young dancers who are just beginning their training, starting with Creative Movement for preschool-aged children 3+ years old. Creative Movement introduces the Elements of Dance (time, space, and energy), rhythm exercises, and basic ballet terminology, helping students develop coordination, flexibility, balance, and self-confidence in a respectful and caring environment. General Level then progresses through Pre-Ballet, Ballet I, Tap I, Ballet II, Tap II, Ballet III, Tap II/III, Jazz II/III, Ballet IV, Tap IV, Jazz IV, and Hip Hop.
Core Level classes (Levels A, B, C, and D) are designed for dancers with previous training. Each dancer is placed in the appropriate level by faculty during the first few weeks. Core Level students concentrate on perfecting technique and developing artistry, with schedules carefully designed to support overall training. Dancers are strongly encouraged to participate in all classes offered at each level: ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. Dancers on pointe are required to attend ballet three times per week, including pointe class.
The studio's class descriptions reflect deep pedagogical philosophy. Ballet is presented as the foundation for all dance forms, instilling strong work ethics, personal responsibility, and respect. Modern dance curriculum is rooted in the techniques of pioneers such as Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, and Doris Humphrey. Jazz explores rhythm, coordination, and dynamic performance energy, drawing from African dance traditions and musical influences. Tap involves traditional tap dances and increasingly intricate patterns and rhythms. The studio also offers Stott Pilates for core strength and alignment, and Zena Rommett Floor-Barre®, a ballet-based technique that incorporates anatomical principles to lengthen and strengthen muscles and joints, used by dancers and non-dancers alike for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Free trial classes are available. The studio is led by Owner/Director Kathy Falcone.
